Our Angel Annabelle

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this, our angel Annabelle went home to be with Jesus this morning. We have so many questions but know that in spite of all of this God is in control and His plan is Divine. He blessed us with (almost) two months with her. Her precious life has touched so many people and it is our prayer that it continues to touch you and strengthen your faith. She fought so hard and did so well. We couldn't be more blessed. We have peace in knowing that we will see her again!

Her service is going to be on Sunday at 2pm at Riverland Hills Baptist Church. We will be receiving family and friends Saturday from 4-6pm at Dunbar Funeral Home in Irmo.

Please pray for our strength as we face the coming days without her.

Rebecca, Scott and Wyatt,
I am so sorry to hear about Annabelle's passing. Even though I never got to meet her in person, I feel like I knew her through following your blog. She was a special little girl who fought very hard and touched many lives. Jesus holds her cradled in His loving arms and will take good care of her until you meet again. My prayers are with you.

Just from reading the comments on your blog over the past several months, I know that Annabelle's life has touched many people. My heart goes out to you and your sweet family. Annabelle is such a beautiful little girl and although you only got her for a few months, it's not the end. Families can be together forever. I truly believe that. I have been following along on your blog since my little sister found out that her baby also had HLHS. We will be sure to keep you and your sweet family in our prayers. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dear Scott, Rebecca and Wyatt,

I now know why our Florida trip did not work out and why I was not upset about it. It was meant for us to be here so that mom and dad could be close to you today. Words cannot describe how sorry I am for the loss of sweet Annabelle. I am so thankful that I was able to meet her and see her snuggling with her mommy two weeks ago. I know that she is in heaven with Jesus and your mother. She will always be Angel Annabelle and will watch over us until we all are together in heaven. I love you so much and will be here to help in any way that I can.

Many years ago, on the show Touched by an Angel, there was a line that has stuck with our family, and in times like this it is so appropriate. "The Miracle You Pray for May Not be the Miracle You Receive". God provides miracles of many kinds that we don't always understand. Little Annabelle's life was full of miracles and at the end, she has received one of the greatest miracles, and that is the gift of Eternal Life.

We have been praying for your entire family, and will pray even harder now asking God to provide you with the peace and solace that you need.

Love,

There are no words to express the sorrow at the passing of such a beautiful sweet angel. We can rest assured in the knowledge that Annabelle is truly home now with her heavenly Father and so many others who have gone before us. Having lost a child myself, I understand the emptiness and the aching heart that heals only through the graciousness of our Father and my prayer is that He will just fill your hearts and give your family the peace and comfort that comes only from knowing and trusting in Him. There is nothing I can to offer to you as guidance as God has given you all the strength imaginable to endure this time in your lives. Your blog was so uplifting to read and even during the happy times when Annabelle was here I would still well up with tears because I thought it was so unfair for such a precious child to endure so much. I too have lost two angels. My son Ryker passed away this last December after fighting 7 weeks with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome. I have been following your little angel for the last few weeks from Gracie Gledhill's family's page, and saw that your adorable Annabelle had passed from this world. My heart goes out to you. We have an online angel group for heart baby's families. May Heavenly Father bless you with peace in your time of need.

Rebecca, in the short time that I have known your family, I have been inspired. You are a true witness to God's grace. For the past several days, I have not been able to look at my Mary Clare without thinking about your sweet Annabelle. As a mother, my heart aches for you. Know that we are praying for you. Rebecca,
Just wanted to let you know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. My dad told me about Annabelle and her story has truly touched my heart. I know what a strong and loving mother you must be to have made it this far! Our daughter, Grace, was born 2 months prematurely and without our trust in God, we would never had made it through her two month hospital stay in the NICU at Richland. She too endured a surgery when she was only 1 week old and was hooked up to numerous machines and feeding tubes. My heart completely goes out to you and your family, and although I can relate, only God can comfort you with the knowledge that your little girl is with Him now. Please let me know if there is anything we can do for you. You will continue to be in our prayers!

Love,
Janet (Hunter), Larry, Grace, and Gabriel Maner

Annabelle was a gift from God, and He used her life to truly make a difference in this world. So many people have been touched forever by your strength and faith. May knowing that Annabelle is in the arms of our loving Saviour and that her precious grandmother Beverly is cradling her as only a grandmother can, bring you the peace and comfort that will carry you through the coming days and weeks.
Be assured that many prayers are being lifted for you~

Rebecca, Scott, and Wyatt,

We just returned home from a long trip and read the sad news on the computer. It is hard for me to comprehend that this has happened, but it I pray that it is comforting to know that God is in control and has your precious one in His arms. Cody was just asking on our trip when we could visit little Annabelle at her house. I know that they will meet in Heaven one day. You are loved, you are prayed for, you are thought about every day. May the peace that passes all understanding be with you and your family. Love you all, tiffany, kevin, cody, and zeke.

1 Cor. 15:55,57 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." The TRUTH in this passage takes on such power in our hearts when we lose a precious loved one. The life, death and resurrection of Jesus is our only hope.
While our hearts ache over your tremendous loss, we KNOW that your Annabelle is right now in the arms of Jesus. Death is not the end, it is merely the passageway for Annabelle to enter into eternity where she will never know the sadness or pain of life in this fallen world. Your heavenly Father understands the loss of a child and will draw near to you with a comfort you have never known. "Those who lose a child live the rest of their lives with one foot on earth and the other in heaven." Isn't that how we all should live every day? Remembering that this world is not our home... Our prayers will not cease for your sweet family.

I learned of your precious baby girl through my father, who knows Annabelle's grandfather. I also have a daughter in heaven, Hannah Lynn. She was stillborn on November 7, almost 5 months ago. My heart aches for you, as it does for anyone who has lost a child. I never want anyone to have to experience this indescribable pain that my husband Robbie and I know too well. There is nothing to say but I am so sorry. But, as others have said to you, it is such a comfort to know that death has no dominion in our lives, and our little ones are safe, healthy, and ALIVE in heaven! I have definitely experienced "the peace that passes understanding" as I pray you will/do also. Through my pain, questions, and anger, I do know that God is carrying us as He is Hannah and Annabelle. We truly do have treasures in heaven, don't we? I will pray for you this afternoon at 2:00 as you celebrate Annabelle's earthly life.

Annabelle's Family, It's almost 2:00pm on Sunday and I'm in much prayer for all of you as you have Annabelle's service. I know it will be a celebration of her short life and praises to God for leading us all to this point. He is still in control, even in the bad times like these. You must know we all have broken hearts and shed many tears for you (and ourselves). The coming days will be a time to depend only on Jesus for your strength, but so many prayers will be lifted on your behalf...including ours here in NC. Much Love

This passage is from Beth Moore's Praying God's Word. It touched my heart and spoke to me. I don't you, but I know of your baby girl and this spoke to me through and through.

Isaiah 43:1-2 "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you"

Psalm 34:18 "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit"

May you be filled with His spirit daily and gain and maintain strengh every second of every day!

You have been such an inspiration to me, and I am in awe of your strength and poise. My heart aches for your family. I pray that the Lord continues to bless your family, and I also pray that you will find peace and comfort everlasting in the days to come. May you always feel the presence of our Lord. You don't know me but I am Michele Gledhill's aunt and checked out your blog from hers. i am so sorry to hear of your loss. I lost a son in a car accident 11 years ago and I still have a little hole in my heart. The first year was the hardest for me, but it does get better I promise. You will see your daughter again and isn't it wonderful to know that they are in Jesus's arms! She was just to perfect and didn't need to stay here on earth any longer. Many prayers out to you as you continue through this difficult journey. Your life is forever changed, but it can be for the better if you allow the Savior to embrace you! Good luck!

I'm so sorry. I know that there truly are no words to help you in this time of great loss. As the mother of a child with HLHS, I have always feared losing my child.(and probably always will)I wanted to share a poem that I wrote last summer, as I thought of all the heart children, and the great impact that they leave upon all of our hearts. May God give you comfort in the days ahead.

Once upon a special day...
In heaven up above...
The tiniest souls sat at God's feet...
Surrounded by his love...
The time was coming...very soon...
God said..."Do not be scared"...
Your family awaits your arrival...
Now let us get prepared...
And so... God looked upon these souls...
In mute consideration...
He knew the life each one would live...
He weighed each situation...
The souls chatted amongst themselves...
And wondered who they'd be...
They knew the day grew closer...soon...
They'd meet their family.
"How would you like to change the world"?
God asked each soul in fun...
"The chance to make a difference"...
Is held by only one.

I'm going to make the world laugh...
One soul said with a smile...
For laughter heals a broken heart...
And helps us through each trial...
Then take with you the brightest smile...
And share your laughter well...
The soul thanked God immensly...
And down to earth he fell.

"And I'll remind the world to sing...
A sweet little soul told the Lord...
I have the gift of a beautiful voice...
I can hit every note...every chord.
You'll have the gift of music then...
A voice...lovely and strong...
Share your gift with others...
And let them hear your song.

I will show compassion....
The next little soul raised his hand...
Some people only need a friend...
Someone to understand.
Compassion is a good thing...
God said with much delight...
To you... I will give mercy...
You'll perceive wrong from right.

And so each soul...shared every thought...
Their plans, their hopes, their dreams...
As God explained that life...it is...
Much harder than it seems.
And as each soul began to leave...
In a scurry of laughter and fun...
Heaven became quiet...
Left...was only one.
Come sit with me my little child...
God said with just a sigh...
Do you know how many you will touch...
In a world left wondering why?
From the moment that your life begins...
You... will know of strife...
But you'll teach those who know you...
To cherish the small things in life.
And some may only know you...
Through a simple photograph...
They'll never hold you in their arms...
Or memorize your laugh...
Some may only know you...
through the words they read each day...
But you'll do something wonderful...
You'll make them stop...to pray.
The tiniest soul...raised her head up...
To touch God's firm, strong hand...
Father...I am ready for...
The life...that you have planned.
And I will do the best I can...
Without a word or deed...
For you Lord...are the planter...
And I will be your seed.
She could already hear many praying...
And although they had not seen her face...
They were praying for her safe arrival...
They were asking for mercy and grace.
What talent do I leave with Lord?
What gift do you impart?
All that you will need God said...
I've placed within your heart.
And so God kissed this tiny child...
Knowing all that she would be...
And whispered as he watched her go...
You'll teach them...to see me.

Dear Rebecca,
I have followed your sweet angel's story since the first paper article and was so so sad to hear of her passing last week. There are just no words to comfort you in a time like this. I know this first hand. We too lost our first born boy ,Hudson , to HLHS when he was 3 months old in 2002. He too was born at MUSC and had the Norwood, but never did make it out of the PC. I know you are going through so may different emotions right now ,but if you ever need someone to talk, cry, vent, share stories of the amazing staff in the PC(we love those guys) I am here in Charleston and would love to chat . Cathy Rubenstein knows how to reach me.
You and your family are and will continue to be in my prayers, especially in the coming weeks. Take care and lean on your family and friends for support.
