What a morning!

Well, I guess you could say my morning began at around midnight when I realized that I probably should go ahead and take my shower & wash my hair since I know me & mornings…and they just don’t go together very well.  Scott has had a super important out of town meeting on the calendar for a long time so he’s been gone since early Tuesday morning.  He coming home tonight though!Knowing that I am flying solo encouraged me even more to begin my day around 12:01.  So, I showered, washed, dried & flat ironed my hair because it’s important to look & feel your best on super crummy days! ;)

Luke woke up around 5:30 (his norm these days).  We loaded up around 6:30 just as he was getting ready for an early morning nap…

Once we arrived at the surgery center, I was greeted immediately by the exact same smell from the PCICU waiting room.  It’s got something to do with the cleaning stuff & stale coffee…but I haven’t ever smelled it anywhere else & wasn’t exactly thrilled about having that little trigger this morning either.

We got taken back to the holding area & Luke got to change into some snazzy Looney Tunes robe.  I’m thinking a career in designing fashionable hospital gowns could be in my future?!?! I think the heartbabies that are a little older would think it’d be really cool to have a gown that turns them into Superman or Cinderella!  But, for today it was Tweety for us…

Luke especially likes playing with the syringe after you give him meds. Thankfully, both he & Wyatt have always taken medicine easily.  Although, this picture concerns me a bit…

Good thing the meds in our house are WAY out of reach!

He was taken back & before I had time to make two phone calls they were calling me back to see him in recovery.

This is where the real fun began. HA!  So, we now know that Luke does not come off anesthesia well.  He screamed for close to an hour (the awful, painful, scared scream) and then finally passed out about 4 minutes from home.  Poor baby, I was questioning myself the whole drive back.  I tiptoed all the way to his room & he took a little nap…

…& then woke happy & ready for food!  Little Bear nursed the best he has in over a month, ate half of a banana, a big bowl of extra buttered grits & all of his yogurt!  Then, he munched on Kix and pedialyte as he played like a little wild man!  He’d stop for a brief second to let me take a picture to email his daddy so he’d be more at ease…

Then, he spent time doing one of the things he loves to do the most…looking at his big sister’s photo album.  I find him at least once a day pulling this off the shelf & flipping through staring at “Belle”.

Amazing, how I haven’t ever had to force her on him but he’s always been instinctively drawn to her.  He knows…

He’s just gone down for (hopefully) a longer nap & I think I’m going to put my feet up and join him!

I'm glad that the surgery went well. We recognize those Looney Tunes robes...we were at the surgery center last week with our son, Wes (we live in your area). Wes is a different boy after getting tubes and hopefully Luke will be too.

So glad to hear he did o.k. Case is the same way with a photo book of Lindsay that Jon's mom has. He always
carries it around while we are there. He always brings it over to us and shows us. I think he just knows that's his sister.
Hope Luke has a good rest of the evening.
Love,
Laura

Glad to hear he is doing well and I also remember that smell all too well. Please let me know if you need anything at all, since I am just a hop, skip and jump away :O)
He's a cutie pie!

I'm so glad everything went well! Oh those Looney Tunes gowns...just lovely aren't they?! Coming off the anesthesia is the worst part, but thankfully it didn't last all day!! I hope everyone rests well tonight! Just think...it's all over and it was a success!! Yay!!!!! Oh yea, I guess you got my message this morning?! :)

So glad all went well! I was praying this morning! I havent had a chance to comment, but I've been keeping up with yall and with Luke's ears! :)
Him looking at Annabelle's picture album is so precious. I love what you said, "he's drawn to her. He knows..." So very true. My AB can pick out Cooper in pictures, and like you, we've never forced him on her, he's just a part of our lives still, just like your Annabelle is yall's! You are precious and always love reading your thoughts! :)

Sounds like he is back to his super happy self! Have I told you how cute he is?! Seriously precious, Rebecca! I'm glad that today is over for you and so glad that Luke is feeling better! I adore the photos of him looking through Annabelle's photos. He knows. How amazing and wonderful. Get some sleep tonight, friend. You deserve it!
