{Christmas Eve: Part Two}

After church, we came home and continued the tradition of Butcher Family Christmas Games!  The kids got their Christmas jammies and opened and hung their ornament for the year also.  Typically, I would give those around Thanksgiving or whenever we got the tree up.  But, with Bubba living in an apartment this semester and not on campus, he doesn't come home for his longer break this year.  So, we started something new...Christmas Eve stockings with jammies and ornaments!

Time for the games!  We played putting for cash where each cup had a different dollar amount first.

Then, the kids teamed up and played the tissue box challenge.  The first team to empty the box wins.  Bubba and Panda won by one tissue!

Then, it was nearly 11pm and we were exhausted.  We agreed to finish the other two games tomorrow night and cuddled up and watched a Christmas movie super late.  The bigger ones fell asleep but the girls stayed up and loved it!

I get a kick out of how this little gymnast sits.  Her little feet are the cutest! Now, let's hope everyone sleeps in...

{Christmas Eve: Part One}

We were thankful to get to swing by Scott's mom's house for a short and sweet visit before heading to church for our Christmas Even Candlelight service.  It was absolutely beautiful and packed!  Standing room only for many and our sanctuary holds over 1200!  What an incredible time to impact lives forever with The Good News of Great Joy!

{Christmas Adam Eve}

I just loved the way the light was shining on this sweet girl during lunch after church.

We have the tradition of having "Christmas Adam" (The day before Christmas Eve) with some of our old Sunday School couples and their kids.  This year it actually fell the day before Christmas Adam so I called it Christmas Adam Eve.  Not confusing at all, huh?

We all bring yummy food and then have a white elephant gift exchange.

So thankful for these friends of a lifetime!  We have all walked through so many seasons together.

And some of our kiddos! They are growing up too fast!

The next morning, we got a head start on Christmas baking...starting with venison meatballs.

The kids had the last of their Christmas Countdown Chocolate.

And I began the laborious but well worth it task of making gf cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning.

{Company Christmas & A Big Ole Bonfire}

Scott's company Christmas party is always such a fun night out!  It's held each year at an event hall beside the Gamecock Stadium so we enjoy seeing it all lit up at night and going all fancy downtown!

AG knows how to keep herself busy!

And AJ just hangs out and talks, talks, talks!

This year, we got a special visit from Cocky!

And played "guess how many" where AG put down a 6 and then said "What?  I haven't done math in a whole week!" Gracious, we love that girl!

We kept the tree simple this year and are all enjoying the coastal feel with the baby blue.

My dad offered to keep the kids for the night so Scott and I could be alone in our own home.  It was lovely! We watched football and went to bed early...let me correct that...Scott watched football and I fell asleep on the couch.  Still, lovely!

And then we had a candlelit breakfast!

That evening, God showed off with the most glorious sunset for Winter solstice.  The light is coming!

And we had a big ole bonfire!

{A Charleston Christmas}

For the 16th year, we trekked down to Charleston to take Annabelle Baskets to the heart babies at MUSC in the Pediatric Cardiology ICU.  What a kind God to allow this to continue! People donated and filled these baskets in the most generous of ways.

šŸ¤At first glance, this might look like just another family photo we’ve taken every year for 16 years with our Annabelle Baskets. You probably notice the man in the white jacket to the left of us, too. But what you don’t see is the story behind it…

Seventeen years ago, our lives changed. The daughter I was carrying was diagnosed in utero with half a heart. A referral led us to a local pediatric cardiologist, where two options for survival were presented. A third option—termination—was mentioned, but it wasn’t an option we could consider.

We prayed and decided to seek more answers. That journey led us to Charleston, to the only hospital in South Carolina equipped to operate on tiny hearts. There, we met a doctor who would change everything.

After confirming her diagnosis, I pulled out a list of questions. By the third one, he gently interrupted, saying, “If I didn’t believe in hope for these babies, I wouldn’t be doing this.” Those words became a turning point.

We toured the ICU, asked questions, and left with a sense of hope. I began packing a hospital bag for my daughter—not with the typical newborn items, but with things to celebrate her precious life. These same things are still given in Annabelle Baskets.

So, when you see this man in the white jacket, you may just see someone standing with us. But we see a man that the Lord used to bring light into our darkness. A man that has walked us through a third pregnancy with its own concerns (and that Luke is named after),  a man was instrumental in bringing both of our daughters home from China, a man who became a friend during the fire and still escorts us around like family…and today, he is the Chief, though you’d never know it from his humble spirit.

šŸ¤There are no coincidences and God does not make mistakes even and especially when it seems like the valley could not get any lower.

šŸ¤Hope came to us over 2000 years ago this Christmas as the Babe in the manger… and Hope is still alive today.

šŸ¤Let this be your proof.

After we went to the hospital, we headed to The Battery for our annual photos...

We grabbed lunch and headed back in a whirlwind!  Bubba had to be at work that evening but we were SO thankful we were all able to go together.  God is so very kind.

{A Random Busy Week}

Someone stole my readers and is making fun of me! She's a mess!

And this is what she does when she asks me what to do because she is bored and I respond to go outside...so she sits in a little ball on the sidewalk.  Clearly I didn't give her the answer she wanted.

The kids have had the best time shopping for each other.  And the girls are wrapping queens!

Another specialist for AG...and one we will not ever see again {getting another recommendation to one at MUSC because these specialists are not as special as they think and this girl is quite complex for your average Joe}.  But I did think she was the most grow up little lady sitting there waiting...

She teaches me so much about living fully and with joy!

More deer meat processing!  AG measures it out and I seal it up in the food saver.

And AJ is knitting again...she goes through stages but when she's in it, she is IN IT!
