Our first day of kindergarten...

Wyatt and I began our first day of kindergarten today! It's been too hot to be out in the middle of the afternoon & I would prefer not to battle SpongeBob... so, we are taking advantage of having a few weeks of just the two of us before Luke's arrival and starting school! I thought I'd share a few things from our first day...

Phonics: Wyatt has these down pat. Apparently, the curriculum was too slow for him and he's ready to jump right into reading. (I quickly realized that we may be flying through K5 & beginning 1st grade by winter.)

Math: He's known his cheery colors for over 2 years now and counted way past 10. He would prefer to add a 1000 to those simple numbers. (I'm thinking that my child is clearly a genius & should test right out of kindergarten by now.)

History: I am able to teach him something he isn't entirely familiar with...presidents. We begin with the first and he memorizes every fact that we learned about good ole' George in less than 2 minutes flat. (So, my plan of 1 president a week is poorly undershot. Wyatt will be learning...oh, let's just say...one a day?)

Social Studies/Art: We talk about our community and our family. After some interesting conversation, I ask Wyatt to draw a family portrait. He looks at me with a blank stare and says "Mommy, can you teach me how to draw a bow?" Thank you, Annabelle! Finally, there is something that he doesn't know!

Of course he's a genius. We all knew that; even those of us who really haven't met him yet. LOL

Good luck with homeschooling. You ARE a very brave young woman.
Looking forward to meeting Luke.

That is just the best story! It made me smile and put a lump in my throat all at the same time!

I admire you for home schooling Wyatt... that is something I have pondered, but am not yet ready to take the plunge! It sounds like he will definitely be keeping you on your toes :)

Love to you... Danielle

Love it, love it!

I was window-shopping in a little boutique last night and Abi was with me. When we passed a beautiful display of baby hair bows and ribbons and bands and flowers, Abi says "look mommy - Annabelle bows!"

Thought you would appreciate that they are referred to by my daughers (who put bows in eachothers hair every day) as ANNABELLE BOWS! We all love her so!
