{Teef!}

Something I'll never forget {and that should have most definitely been a hint that our little Sunshine's spirit is quite strong} is the first night with me in China.  I was told by another mom who had adopted from AJ's orphanage previously that they actually do brush their teeth there...and that this other little one who had come home a few months earlier knew exactly how to brush her teeth.  Quite a pleasant surprise!  So, I took a baby toothbrush and toothpaste to brush AJ's teeth the evening of her "gotcha" day.  She did very well with her first bath with me and even played a little in the tub.  She let me blow dry her hair {knowing she had an unrepaired heart condition made me extra nervous when she was shaking uncontrollably after I got her out of the bath}...so I thought drying her hair with warm hair quickly may warm her up, too!  And then it came time to brush her little teeth...oh my!  She knew exactly what I was going to do and clamped that little jaw shut tighter than I could believe.  There was no way she was going to let me brush her teeth...so I gave the toothbrush to her and she immediately began to do it herself.  Thankfully, over the next couple of months she learned to trust me to brush them, too...and then I gladly let her wrap it up after momma has done a thorough job! ;)

She just loves brushing her "teef" after her nighttime "bah-doo"!
